Dance of the Dryads - A jazz waltz that features solos for flute (first tenor double), tenor sax
and trumpet. The tempo is up, starting in a quasi-free "one" feel and moving into a swinging "three".
There is a lot of linear contrapuntal writing with challenging things for everyone to play. Lots of
dynamic contrast and nuance, both greaceful and "diggin-in". The shout chorus takes the lead trumpet
to high "F" and the chord changes for soloist are readily accessible. Playable by good high school bands.

It Wouldn't Have Mattered - A feature for the bari sax on a nice ballad. A beautiful chart and really
playable too! The brass have their moments behind the melody with a big brass ending. You'll enjoy
the way the melody is in the solo for the bari, while the rest of the band have their moments, also.

Protection - A high energy funk chart with a sixteenth feel that is good for beginining bands. Open
solos for tenor sax and guitar build as section backgrounds are stacked behind solo work. Lead trumpet
written to a "D". Medium Difficulty $60

Romeo and Juliet - The last chart and possibly the best work that Peter wrote before his untimely
death. Romero and Juliet is a suite that establishes itself with the opening rubato statement by the
sax section and trombones. The "a-tempo" is a medium fast 4/4 where each section reesstablishes the
main theme. A fugue section leads to a tenor sax solo that finally leaves the tenor sax alone for a
cadenza. A new tempo is established which is a Latin bossa feel with a new theme. A trumpet solo melts
the theme into written and improvised sections until the original tempo and the first theme are reestablished.
The chart ends in both themes crisscrossing to a temendous and exciting conclusion. Lead trumpet written
to a double high "A". A festival winner! Difficult $90

Sho' Nuff - A big band shuffle in medium tempo. Trumpets carry the melody, mostly in unision. The
second chorus is a challenging yet very playable sax soli. There are solo choruses for trumpet and tenor,
as well. The next to last chorus has a written solo for vibes (or piano) in interplay with the whole
ensemble. After a four-bar drum solo, the band really shouts. A happy Basie-style romper. Top trumpet
note is a high "D". Medium Difficulty $65 Sound Clip

Triple Sec - This chart exemplifies high energy from start to finish. This is a double-time rock/samba
in 3/4 meter with a sixteenth note feel. The intro contains one of the principal rhythmic motives, a
four-against-three rhythm for two bars, making the 3/4 meter a surprise when it establishes itself.
Solos are for guitar, soprano and tenor sax. The lead slot doubles soprano sax. The shout chorus contains
a virtuoso-like unision, eight bar soli for saxes which, while difficult on the first reading, lies well
under the fingers. (A sax player wrote it!) Changes are not complicated. The real difficulty in this
chart is getting the right feel in the rhythm section, which requires good players. It makes a great
opener or closer. Top trumpet note is a high "D". Difficult $50

Vice-Prez - A high-energy, sixteenth note rock chart. Soprano sax takes the lead. Solos are for
guitar (as funky a sound as possible), piano (preferably electric) and soprano sax. Trumpets in unison
have some challenging rock/bebop lines to play. The middle section features the whole band in unison,
high-energy epoisodes and is rhythmically challenging. After this shout section, an open solo for percussion
keeps time. (The more things hit, shook, scratched and scraped, the better!) On cue, the band shouts
to a finish. No letup on this one! Difficult, even though the key of Bb is easy, the changes are simple
and everything fits the fingers it, nonetheless, is a rhythmically demanding piece and requires stamina.
When well done it has a breathtaking effect. The top tumpet note is a high "C". Medium Difficulty
