Curtis Fox, Trombonist, Arranger and Clinician. From St.
Louis Mo., Curtis
started his music education at age nine studying piano, bass and trombone.
Curtis then attended the University
of Kansas where he
received his Bachelor of Music Education. Fox went south to Denton
Texas and started his masters in Jazz
"Studies at North
Texas State
University.
After graduating, Curtis began teaching
band and jazz at Mesquite
High School.
In
91' Yamaha instruments signed Curtis to be a Trombone clinician which he still
is today, and his book, "The Art of Doodul Tongue" published by Belwin Mills. At this time he
began touring yearly with Mike Vax's Kenton Alumni Big Band.. Curtis has
performed trombone clinics for TMEA, TBA, OMEA, NMMEA, University
of Missouri, University
of Kansas, Lamar
University, and many of Dallas area's High
Schools. In 93' Fox went to Switzerland
for Yamaha to perform at the Montreaux Jazz Festival.
Curtis
has played with nearly all of North Texas's
area dance bands and studios, playing with Elvis impersonator. Johnny
Harra, the Glen Dorsey Orchestra. In 2001 Fox joined the Galen Jeter
Jazz Orchestra, now called Dallas'
Original Jazz Orchestra.
Curtis
has been married to his wife Amy for 27 years and has two children, Charles and
Emily.
